As we know Google is known for being a ‘playful company’. That’s why it has been adding some easter eggs, and April fools’ day jokes and hoaxes in its products and services since 2000. In this post, we will discuss some of the cool and funny google tricks with which you can impress your friend.
Easter Eggs are some hidden features, inside jokes or cultural reference that are inserted in any media. Google also has some easter eggs that are added to its search engine and are revealed when the user makes certain search queries. For example, Google Maps warned users who asked for walking distance from “The Shire” to “Mordor” by giving a caution message – “One does not simply walk into Mordor” (a Lord of Rings reference). Let’s learn about some more funny google tricks and easter eggs.
Do a barrel roll
If you search “Do a barrel roll” on Google the result page will spin 360 degrees. Actually, it’s a reference to Nintendo’s Star Fox series in which Peppy (a wise rabbit and a fighter pilot) tells you to avoid enemy fire by doing a barrel roll with your plane.
If you search “recursion” on Google the resulting page will ask “Did you mean: recursion”. If you click on recursion you will be taken to same result page that you were on with the same message being displayed “Did you mean: recursion“. The meaning of recursion according to Google is – “the repeated application of a recursive procedure or definition”. I hope you get the joke.
You can play a small game on Google Search if you search for “zerg rush”. Zergs were featured in Starcast video game series. They are an alien species called insectoids. If you search for “zerg rush” on Google, the o from Google will come out and start eating the search results one by one. You have to stop them from doing that by shooting them.
If you search “askew” on Google the whole search result screen tilts a little to the right.
Another game that you can play on Google Search is the old classic Atari Breakout game. All you have to do is search “Atari Breakout” on Google Images and you can start destroying images by bouncing a ball into them. A great way to pass your time.
Some other Easter Eggs that you should try
