@Salixj I tried signing up for an account. I didn't get a confirmation email. When I saw the userbase increment to 18, I checked my email inbox but nothing was there. Now the userbase is down to 17. How long did it take for your account to be accepted?
I asked around on a more populous instance and was alerted to the existence of booktoot.club, a small-at-present instance dedicated, so I'm making an account there, if they'll have me.
is it my imagination or did this instance just recently reconnect with the fediverse? i could have sworn that for months it had abandoned the orbit.
@Salixj _A Child's Garden of Verses_, _The Oxford Concise English Dictionary_, _The Teenage Survival Guide_ by Sol Gordon, first edition _My Autobiography_ by Charles Chaplin, _A Course in Miracles_. How about you?
@Salixj I could be more involved on Goodreads, but I had hoped, out of the hundreds of Mastodon instances, an updated, in-sync instance would be for book readers. I yap generally on mastodon.social and mastodon.sdf.org, using the #amreading, #nowreading and #books hashtag @LienRag
We've all found other instances, right? Did you join a different instance yet retained a focus on what you're reading? Please let me know. #amreading _Some Tame Gazelle_ by Barbara Pym.
#nowreading Nova Jacobs' _The Last Equation of Isaac Severy_ and I find the writing style flat and plodding. I don't have the tolerance for reading a mainstream current release immediately after reading a classic novel written by a style master. If someone's read _The Last Equation..._ tell me when the action happens or things improve.
I'm reading Alejandro Jodorowsky's _The Incal_ and Virginia Woolf's _To the Lighthouse_.
Astonishing how many 20th century Pulitzer Prize winning novels and their authors I've not heard of. Durability and timelessness don't appear to be criteria for award.
#Amreading _Zuleika Dobson_ by Max Beerbohm, _The Grave's a Fine and Private Place_ by Alan Bradley, and Goldie Vance, volumes 2 and 3.
the horror of learning a book is due back today that one has read three pages of, and the inability to renew it as another library patron placed a hold on it.
Happiness is connecting with a new-to-you writer who discloses she writes novels featuring a strong interest of yours.
Happiness is finding a Penguin Classics Edition of a Reading Challenge selection on sale at the library for a dollar.
@LienRag I have not read the Blind Geometer. What's it about?
Wondering if I should wash my hair, then go return the book and see if my mystery hold is available, or go to library first.
A long-awaited, highly popular installment of a mystery series arrived at the public library system this week. My local branch received three copies today and one already has been taken out, five hours after opening.
In other news, I finished reading _The Blind Assassin_ for my Badass Books Reading Challenge 2018.
I finished Papa La-bas by #JohnDicksonCarr. It was not terrific, nor terrible. I wonder if most of JDC's stories are better than Papa La-bas: it has a Goodreads rating of 3.16.
@miaomiau Hello and welcome!
